Peptitler (Grekçe: πεπτίδια; “ufak tefek sindirilebilirler”) tanımlanmış bir düzende, α-amino asitlerin birbirine rabıtlanmasıyla oluşan kısa polimerlerdir.[1] Bir amino hamız lakırtııntısı ile diğeri arasındaki bağ bir “amit bağ” veya peptit bağı olarak bilinir.[1]
Tetrapeptit (Oligopeptit)
Proteinler polipeptit molekülleridir (veya çok adetda polipeptit ast birimi çitndırır). üs fark peptitlerin kısa, polipeptitlerin/proteinlerin ise uzun olmasıdır.[1]
Protein sentezi esnasında her amino hamız, gayrı amino asite durmadan, kırılmayan bir polimer olan polipeptid zincirleriyle rabıtlanır. Polipeptid gestaltsına zalimlan amino asitlerin her biri gestaltya peptid rabıtlarıyla rabıtlanır. Peptid bağının oluşumu esnasında amino asitlerden birinin amino grubu ile diğerinin karboksil grubu, aradan bir akarsu çıkması sonucu birleşirler.[1]
Averaj bir polipeptit zinciri 450 amino asitten oluşur.[1] Bilinen en uzun polipeptit, kestirmece 27,000 amino asitten oluşan, kas dokusunda bulunan “titin”dir. Polipeptid zincirine zalimlan amino asitlere lakırtııntı (residue) adı verilir.[1] Zincirin bir ucundaki lakırtııntı, bağ yapmamış, muaf amino grubu çitndırır ve N ucu olarak adlandırılır. Aynı şekilde zincirin gayrı ucundaki muaf α-karboksil grubu olan lakırtııntıevet C ucu adı verilir.
